Today the Government published its national HIV Action Plan to bring the number of new transmissions down to zero by 2030.

Right now there are about 107,000 people living with HIV in the UK and what many of them don’t know is that they are protected from discrimination under the Equality Act.

They can’t be protected at work or have reasonable adjustments made for them if their employer doesn’t know their status. But people rarely reveal their status because of the stigma they face.

This is why we all need to learn more about HIV, forget a lot of the very stigmatising messages we’ve been fed about the virus over the years, and understand that creating inclusion and belonging needs to extend out to everyone, including those with HIV.
